Flipchart request

I'm in the process of making the flipchart for "Come Follow Me." I know, I like to ride it close to the deadlines...

I was wondering what verses you plan to do. I'm definitely doing the first verse, but not sure about all the others.

I think this song would be nice to make into more of a musical number, with a flute and/or violin. We have a few children in our ward who play these instruments, so it's great to give them the opportunity to use their talents.  There are lots of different instrumental arrangements for this song.

If you want flipcharts for the other verses, let me know which ones you plan on doing, so I can create something for you!

  1. I totally mixed up the songs and thought Come, Follow Me was the May song, so I taught it then...oops! I picked vv. 1, 3, and 6. They're the easiest to understand, and they actually go together quite well: the fist verse tells what we should do on Earth, the third tells us what will happen if we do what the 1st verse teaches (to follow Christ) both on earth and in the next life, and the sixth names what we will inherit in the end if we do all these things. I thought it went together quite well. I used lots of pictures that had significant meaning, so I could really teach the song instead of just having them memorize it. It's way too deep to just memorize and miss the meaning! I used Del Parson and Liz Lemon Swindle prints that i've seen the Church use--just straight off the webiste, then pictures from the Gospel Art book on lds.org. Copy and paste, woo hoo! I don't know how to attach a document to this page, but I'd be happy to share my flipcharts if anyone wants them. They worked really well!

  5. I just got called yesterday and have to get ready for Sunday. This is my first song and I am totally stressing out as I am NOT musical in any way. When I read this post I about cried! Thank you so much! I know I will get my music lungs soon, but for this week, YOU ARE MY HERO!

  10. Oh my gosh Jackie, I totally felt the same way when I was called! When the 1st counceler called me in and asked me to this calling, I seriously was like.."Really? Um, are you sure? Did you want to check your paper and make sure thats the right one." I am NOT musical either! But they were right and for the first 9 months I was SOOO nervous teaching. Anyone could see it but now that i've had this calling a year and a half, I absolutely LOVE it!! SO much fun! If fact the bishop pulled me aside after closing excercises last week and told me that he thinks that I go a great job and that he can see im not nervous anymore, that he thinks The kids are Learning/ singing better than they have in a while and they love it! Pus he said the last 2 times the stake primary presidency has come and watched singing time, they have mentioned to him that they love me!So that was nice! In fact Sr. complained last week when singing time was over!! That's a first! If I can do it anyone can! I have had lots of support and help from heavenly father! You'll do great!

  11. We are singing 1st, 3rd and 6th as well! I am going to have everyone sing the 1st verse together, then a small group of about 7 will come to the podeum and sing the 3rd while the rest the primary hums in the background. Then the 6th everyone will sing together again. Should be fun!
